Lions Assist During Hurricane Tomas Relief Efforts

On Saturday, October 30, 2010 Hurricane Tomas made landfall on Saint Lucia .  It was the most damaging weather system ever to hit this island.  Tomas rained on Saint Lucia for at least 24 hours from early Saturday morning to early Sunday with a combination of wind and rain, virtually battering Saint Lucia.  Tomas left its mark on every district in the island; Soufriere was the biggest hit with at least 14 deaths confirmed.

On Sunday November 14, the members of the Castries lions and leos clubs together with firends and family visited the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) office to assist in the pacgaking food items for hurricane victims.



                  

                     

November 20 -  the members of the Lions clubs of Gros Islet and Castries  assembled at the lions Den, Sans Soucis, Castries  to package items and sort clothing for delivery to hurricane victims of Marc and bexon two hard hit area.  


                  
On Sunday, November, 21, 2010, Members of the Lions Clubs of Castries, Gros Islet and Micoud madetheir way to Bexon, Marc and surrounding areas to provide supplies to the victims of Hurricane Tomas.

The relief efforts are continuing as Saint Lucia recovers from this devastation.  In the meantime relief haa been pouring in from sister Lions Clubs in District 60B.  Our Thanks to the Lion District Governor, 60B Lion JuneMcCatty  MJF, for rallying the relief effort on our behalf.  Thanks to the Lions Clubs of Dominica, Grenada, St Vincent, Bridgetown and Antigua for their quick response.
