Meet the International President

Hong Kong Business Leader Elected President of Lions Clubs International

July 8, 2011, Our International Convention ended with the election of Wing-Kun Tam as our 2011-2012 International President. Tam, a Lion from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), The People’s Republic of China, is the chairperson of a world-wide group of air transportation companies – and the first person from China to serve as international president of the world’s largest service club organization.

A member of the Mt. Cameron Lions Club since 1981, he has held many offices in the association, including Campaign Sight-First multinational coordinator and OSEAL recording secretary, Sight-First China Action executive chairperson, 2005 International Convention Bidding Committee executive chairperson and honorary Host Committee chairperson. He has served on the international board for 11 years and three years on the executive committee.

In recognition of his service to Lions Clubs International, President Tam has received numerous awards, including the Campaign Sight-First National/Multi-National Coordinator Award, the International Lion of the Year Award (2003) and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association gives to its members. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and Campaign Sight-First Lead Gift Donor.

President Tam’s theme, “I Believe” expresses the thought that the Lions of the world have created a culture organized around the value of giving back. And a belief that one person truly can make a difference.
