GRENADA 4H CLUB HOSTED BY LIONS AND LEOS OF ZONE 3B
The Lions
of Zone 3B hosted a group of twenty-five students and teachers from the
4H Club of Grenada on an Easter Camp. This was at the request of Lion
Gloria Thomas of the St. Andrew’s Lions Club of Grenada. The group
arrived on Sunday March 24 and was met by the Vieux Fort Lions. A
programme of activities was put in place for the group which included:
On Tuesday, March 26 the group toured the Mamiku Gardens, hosted by the
Micoud Lions Club and also a tour of the Lighthouse. On Wednesday,
March 27 they visited Castries and toured the Parliament Building
courtesy Lion Lyndell who gave the students an insight in Parliamentary
affairs. After the students were taken to Pigeon Island where they
climbed Fort Rodney and enjoyed themselves at the park. On Thursday,
March 28 was shopping for the group and a games night with the Vieux
Fort Lions. Friday, March 28 was the turn of the Pitons Lions who
hosted the group with a tour to the Sulphur Springs. Saturday, March
29 Lions of Vieux Fort, Castries and Leo Club of Castries held a
Bar-B-Que and fun day for the group on the grounds of the Lions
Pre-School in Vieux Fort. The children were entertained with games of
treasure hunts, cricket and board games. Face painting was also done by
the Leos; the children enjoyed themselves to the fullest. Sunday,
March 31 the group attended a Church Service and the Lions of Vieux Fort
saw their departure that same evening. The 4-H is a national youth
organization that prepares young people to step up to the challenges in
their communities and the world. Young people who are a part of 4-H
have the opportunity to explore all types of science, health and
citizenship programming delivered through 4-H clubs and camps, as well
as after school and in school. The age group range from 8 to 18 years.
