KIDS INSIGHT 2010

Kids Insight Project is a joint initiative of the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association and the Lions Clubs of Saint Lucia which began in 2003.   The objective of the program is to a provide corrective pediatric eye care to underprivileged children in  Saint Lucia. Each year the team visits Saint Lucia for a period of two weeks to provide eye care intervention including surgical, medical,  low vision assessments and provision of devices as well as provide follow-up support.  This year marked the eighth visit for the Team who has examined 179 children and adults. The program's success can be attributed to the support it received from grant funds from Lions International as well as all the Lions Clubs in Zone 3B (Saint Lucia.).

To show appreciation for the work done by the team, this year the Lionistic family in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association hosted a children's fair at the Pigeon Island National Park on Sunday February 07.  The highlight of the fair was to allow the team to interact with the children who have benefited from the program  as well as clients who were diagnosed by the local Eye Care personnel for testing and/or surgery.
