MULTIPLE DISTRICT 60 CONVENTION –TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

LIONS OF ZONE 3B ATTEND MULTIPLE DISTRICT CONVENTION

May 23 – 27 saw fifteen lions, representing the Lions of Zone 3B attending the multiple District 60 Convention in Trinidad and Tobago.  The multiple Districts comprise lions and Leo clubs from Bahamas in the North to Suriname in the South.
The lions participated in the Convention parade which allows the local citizens of the host country to gain an appreciation for the Lions and their contribution to the community.   It also allows participating countries to  showcase their national costumes or depicts thematic areas from the year’s programme.

In addition to attending the various workshops which focused on Membership Development and Retention, Use of IT, Health and Wellness and a Leo Forum, the lions attended the Cabinet Meeting for Sub-District 60B and the multiple District 60 Convention.

The highlight of the Convention was the election of the District Governors for Sub District 60 A and 60 B who will lead the District for the lions’ fiscal year 2012-2013.                                      Lion Claudius Tony Buncamper MJF was elected to lead Sub-District 60B

The Convention was addressed by International Director Lion Douglas X. Alexander, who highlighted the fact that during this lions’ fiscal year the movement had recorded a thirty-eight percent (38%) increase in membership.   He challenged members to continue on this growth path by each member committing to finding and bringing in one person.   He encouraged Clubs to participate in the “One Shot, One Life Lions Measles Eradication Initiative” by raising funds to support the programme.

International Director Douglas implored lions to review their commitment to the organization by asking the question “When did I become a Lion”.   The answer to this he said should be “When I made a difference in someone’s life, or when I was able to put a smile on someone’s face.     He reminded Lions and Leos that “when you join the movement for the right reasons all the other stuff will follow”.

The Lions and Leos of Zone 3B’s hard work was recognized as they were able to capture the following awards
