THIRD ZONE MEETING FOR LIONS AND LEOS OF ZONE 3B

The Micoud Lions club hosted the Lions Leos of Zone 3B (the Lions clubs of Gros Islet, Castries, Piton (Soufriere), Micoud, Vieux Fort and the Leo Club of Castries) on Sunday May 6, 2012 for the third and final Zone Meeting for the lions’ fiscal year.  The meeting was to report to the Zone Chairman, Lion Lyndell Gustave on the clubs’ status, projects and activities for the last quarter of the lion’s fiscal year - (April – June 2012).

The reports highlighted the many service and community activities that were undertaken during the last quarter as well as challenges faced by clubs during the lion’s fiscal years.
It was noted that although Lions Clubs International had recorded positive growth for the clubs in Zone 3B growth recorded was negible.  However a number of clubs had instituted membership strategies that would enhance their recruiting and retention programmes.

The Zone Chairman, Lion Lyndell Gustave was pleased with the work reported but lamented the fact that although there was some growth in the Gros Islet Club, most clubs fell short of the target set for the year.  She indicated that the District Governor was heartened by the reports of the work undertaken by the Clubs and was especially pleased with the sacrifice made by one Lion from the Vieux Fort Club who took time to transport a needy student from a remote community to school each day.

She urged clubs to continue in their quest for membership growth and to begin to think of new ways to attract quality members into the fold while strengthening capacity.  The meeting ended with members participating in a social activity with karaoke singing.
