CASTRIES LIONS AT INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
Three Lions from the
Lions Club of Castries held the Zone3 B banner up high when they attended the
97th International Convention in Toronto, Canada from July 04 to 08,
2014. Leo Onya Immediate Past President took time from her studies to join the
group at the convention.
For two of the lions this was their first convention and they were enamored by the number of lions in attendance. Of great significance and impressive was the International Parade of Nations on Saturday July 5. The Opening Plenary Sessions with the Flag raising ceremony was touching as it painted a picture of the magnitude of lionism.
The closing plenary
session was even more impressive which saw the installation of the 2014-15
International President and District Governors. Renowned singer Olivia Newton was the guest
speaker. However her sessions were a
conversation with Past International Director Barry Palmer where she not only
spoke of her humanitarian efforts but of her life as a survivor of breast
cancer.
The crowning moment
for the convention was the performance by Olivia Newton John and singer David Foster
who was presented with the Lions International Humanitarian Award for 2013-2014
lionistic year. The experience is one
that every lion should try to have as it provides and understanding of
why we are the greatest service organization.

LIONS AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAWAII, LET US GET ON BOARD - AS WE STRENGTHEN THE PRIDE WHILE BUILDING A PATH TO SERVICE EXCELLENCE
