- Use fresh herbs and spices to increase the flavour of the food.
- Ensure that food is easy to chew and swllow. do not rush eating times.
- Include them when sharing meals with family and/or friends. Organize meetings or gatherings that they will enjoy e.g. card games, bingo nights, gardening-get-togethers, a picnic etc.
- Encourge any form of exercise and outdoor activity that is safe for them. You may want to consult with your family doctor to determine what is best. It is never too late for exercise, because the benefits can be gained at any age.
- Keep handy and within their reach, a bottle of warer to ensure that the daily wter intake requirements is met. Note that as one gets older, one's ability to determine thirst needs is reduced, so water reminders or schedules are important.
