In December 2011 the Leo Club of Castries faced the challenge of dealing with the resignation of its President Leo Jana Jules. The Club called an emergency meeting and Leo Karyl Laurent was unanimously elected on, January 07,2012, to serve as President for the second half of the Lionistic year.

Leo Karyl Laurent solicited the support of the members in the execution of club Projects. She informed that her goal was to ensure that the Leo Club continue to be the number one Leo Club in the Zone. She outlined a number of plans including introduction of motivational awards - Discipline;ine Dues, Participation, and Leo of the month. In addition she indicated the need to continue working with the Lions Clubs in the Zone to continue to Raise the Level of Service to community.
