We are on The Road!!!
My
fellow Lions and Leos,
As
we're nearing the end of our 2nd month in office I must say that I'm very
pleased with the movement forward of the district. We have made a great
breakthrough by getting the digital reporting format up and running on our new
website which has led to many report flowing in on time and saving many the
cost of mailing and the use of faxing.
The
members are reporting using the new formats and I'm extremely grateful to all
as this makes the analyzing of reports much more manageable for all the cabinet
officers involved. Many ZC have already kept their 1st advisory meeting and to
those I say congrats. Let's keep all involved by sharing all information
available to us so we can foster better understanding and working relationships
in the clubs and district. I urge all to send their success stories to us so we
can place them in our best practices tap online.
The
Saint. Lucia Lions and Leos hosted the 100+ attendees at our 1st cabinet meeting
in Saint. Lucia with much love and harmony and I can say we all enjoyed their
hospitality to the fullest. The government of Saint. Lucia also agreed to work in
close cooperation with the Vieux Fort Lions club to put in place the Lions
Quest pilot program at the after school adopted by the Vieux Fort Lions Club.
Reading
the various reports clearly shows that many clubs have taken on the challenge
to start partner shipping with the NGO's and financial institutions to make the
serve we make to mankind more meaningful through the greater impact we deliver
together.
I
would like to ask all clubs to continue have their members who didn’t complete
the membership survey form to please do so as this will be a vital part of my
audit. To the SABA Lions club I must say congrats for 100% completion
of the membership survey! Let’s go Lions and Leos and let’s see who will be
the 2nd club to receive 100%.
The
district also signed a protocol agreement with Rotary district 7020 and the
Alzheimer Disease International (ADI) to promote awareness and advocacy in the
district by working together to get the most out of the awareness and advocacy.
I'm proud to state that the Lions Clubs of Tropical gardens and St. Maarten are
already busy with the Alzheimer project.
Presently
the clubs in Jamaica have been contacted by USAID (United States Agency
for International Development) with whom Lions International
signed a MOU in Bussan Korea. It’s the intention to seek a working relationship
in the field of Reading Programs and other areas that we can find common
grounds. Lion 1st VDG Lion Izett has been charged with taking the
lead in Jamaica on my behalf to ensure the best possible results for the
district and Jamaica in particular.
I
will be starting my audits in September and the lucky club for the 1st audit
will be the Antigua Lions and Leo clubs. Also in September we'll be celebrating
the 40th anniversary of the Antigua Leo club and the 18th anniversary of the
Dominica Leo club. I must still stand still am minute and congratulate the
Bridgeport Leo club on their 41st anniversary celebrated just recently in
August.
Working
in the disaster management area I know many islands are being confronted
continuously with severe weather and I pray that all will be speared of any
harm. As we move to the last month of the 1st quarter of our year I say keep
the spirits high and continue to believe in what our motto says and means
"We SERVE"
District Governor 60, Lion Claudius (Tony) Buncamper (MJF)
