The Lions of Castries embarked on a grocery drive on June 22, 2015 where they solicited grocery items from shoppers at two of the island's supermarkets. The groceries were packaged at the Social meeting on June 25.
Between June 29 and July 3, the various teams delivered groceries items to a number of shut-ins. One package was given to an amputee in Gros Islet; one to a single male in Monchy; one to a family in Forestierre; one to an amputee in Dennery and three hampers were delivered to three families in Anse La Raye; two of the male individuals are blind. The recipients were all grateful for the hampers and invited the lions to visit in the future to spend time to share stories with them.
The Dunnottar School for the physically challenged students will be touring neighbouring Martinique for a two week period from July 9. The club made a donation to them of hygiene items in addition to a monetary contribution towards ground transport. This trip will allow some of the students to experience another culture.
We wish to express of thanks to Super J Supermarkets for allowing us the opportunity to solicit the groceries.
Great work Lions - ROAR
