LIONS AND LEOS OF ZONE 3B ATTEND 26th MID-YEAR CONFERENCE - GUYANA

The Lions and Leos of Zone 3b attended the 26th Mid-yer Conference of Multiple District 60 held from November 20- 23 in Georgetown Guyana. The heavy rains created an initial damper on the meeting but by the Thursday everything got into swing and Lions and Leos forgot the water that surrounded them.

The 60 B Cabinet meeting received reports from the various Region Chairmen on the Status of the clubs in their region. In some areas clubs are struggling while in other clubs are excelling. There was some positive growth in some clubs while others saw decline in membership. The two workshops held one on Proposal Writing for Accessing LCIF Grant Funds was very informative and Lions were reminded that all the information needed was at our fingertips on the International Website. Lions were challenged to increase members awareness of LCIF. The second workshop - Human and Interpersonal Relations highlighted some best practices to enhance club relations. This enlightening workshop identified processes for self awareness as well as for dealing with conflict and interpersonal relations. Lions were challenged to become more self aware; to promise to find out more about oneself so that relations with others can be improved.

Coming out of the Leo forum Lions were asked to assist in improving the Leo experience by changing the way things are done; embracing the Leos more, integrating them in the planning of activities especially when it affects them.
The Mid-year Conference highlighted where we were as a multiple district and the plans for upcoming meetings and conventions. The guest speaker highlighted the issues affecting the Region in relation to smoking (Tobacco prevention) and childhood obesity. Lions were challenged to lead by example in the fight against tobacco smoki
ng.
Lions and Leos despite the challenges the 26th Mid-year Conference was a success.

Lions and Leos can now look forward to our next on-line meeting, Convention in May in Jamaica and International in Hawaii.
