LIONS AND LEOS TAKING A STEP AGAINST DIABETES

The Lions and Leos of Castries, continue their activities in observance of Diabetes Awareness month.  After a successful moonlight walk, Health fair, distribution of educational material, radio and school talks, eating healthy breakfast and wearing blue on Fridays;  the Castries lions joined the Leos on Saturday November  15, at the social activity for the month.  The focus was on taking the first step on diabetes through healthy eating and exercise.   The social activity took the form of a socacise session – exercising to soca music.   Ms Shani Victorin Socacise Instructor graciously agreed to conduct the session.    The one hour exhilarating session was followed by lions an Leos sharing healthy snacks - fruits and water.    All those who were present agreed that it was a very exciting session and promised to continue exercising.

The programme of activities for the month continue with Healthy breakfast initiatives at a number of schools; International Men’s Day breakfast initiative at the Ciceron combined school on November 19; Lectures at selected schools and commercial houses and  a panel discussion  on November 27.

The month culminates with the fashion show “Strut for a Cause” where Lions and Leos will take the stage at Sandals Grande modeling the latest fashion.    This is organized by Helen Television Station and the part proceeds will go to the Saint Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association.

Once again great work Lions and Leos of Castries.   Let us continue to make Service Excellence a habit in our clubs.
