CASTRIES LIONS AND LEOS BRING CHRISTMAS CHEER TO ODSAN COMBINED SCHOOL

On Saturday December 14, 2013 the Lions and Leos of Castries visited the Odsan Combined school to host the annual Christmas party for needy children.  The over 100 students were identified by the principal and teachers as deserving of this treat.   There was lost to eat and drink and the children enjoyed the fun games as well as dancing to local Christmas soca music.  The highlight of the party was the appearance of Santa.  Our female Santa came from the Leo Club.  She embraced the children who all whispered to Santa their wishes for Christmas and later showered them with the many Gifts.   This year the St Lucian Association of London partnered with the Lions Club of Castries in hosting the children's party. 

The children, parents and teachers all agreed that it was an enjoyable event.

CASTRIES LIONS VISIT SHUT-INS

 On November 30, the club prepared three hampers and seven lions converged on three communities in the Castries environs to deliver these hampers to needy families. The families expressed their appreciation for the items received and as always were in high praise of the lions.

DIABETES AWARENESS DAY - NOVEMEBR 14. 2013

 The Lions and Leos of Castries and the Lions of Gros Islet partnered with the Diabetes and Hypertension Association in observance of Diabetes Awareness Day 2013.  The activity comprised a mini fair at the William Peter Boulevard as well as presentations from various medical professionals, people living with diabetes as well as presentations from seven infant and primary schools in the Castries basin.  The Lions assisted with the formation of the blue circle by the students in addition to making presentations.    As part of the activity pin a personality, the Presidents of the Castries and Gros Islet Lions and the Leo Club of Castries were pinned with a blue pin symbolizing the circle for diabetes.  It also confirmed their conviction to diabetes education and the pledge in the fight against Diabetes

WORLD SERVICE DAY

 October 8 each year is observed as Lions World Service Day.  This Day Lions and Leos are called to focus on service to community the hallmark of Lionism. 

This the Lions of  Castries used that opportunity to spend time with the residents of the Mother Theresa Home for the Elderly   The residents  were served a light dinner. A hamper with toiletries was also donated to the home. The members spent time talking to the residents and joined them in singing creole songs since in Saint Lucia, October is observed as creole heritage month.
