WORLDWIDE WEEK OF SERVICE FOR SIGHT

Join Lions around the world for a special Worldwide Week of Service dedicated to ending blindness and visual impairments. This international event is a great opportunity to save sight in your community and support the Centennial Service Challenge, which has impacted the lives of over 100 million people.

Host a project that addresses visual impairments in your community, such as organizing a vision screening, donating white canes or hosting an inclusive sporting event. No matter how you choose to serve, be sure to join us for this Centennial service event!

Motivational Talk - Club Social for September

SOCIAL MEETING - SEPTEMBER  15, 2016

September social saw the members of the Castries Lions and Leos and guests being addressed by motivational speaker Mrs. Euphemia Brice-Roberts.

The objective of the talk was to revitalize members improve on their zeal and commitment to serve.
The talk began with members being asked to reconnect with their spiritual self-establishing the link between body, mind and soul. Members were asked to commit to:
1 developing a clear vision 
2 developing 3 or 5 core values that would direct life.

We were further requested to ask two pertinent questions:
3 Who am I becoming as a result of being here (that is after the experience)
4 What am I going to do differently or more of as a result of being here?
Members were invited to develop am environment for excellence by affirming:
“We move with excellence”
- Develop a mindset of excellence
- Develop a habit of excellence
- Recommit to excellence
“I move to standards not to people

Members were reminded that as we develop our vision and core values conquer our personal mountain then we can move to climbing new mountains in lionism.

The Leos and Lions present all agreed that this was a very informative and calming session.
Thanks to Mrs. Roberts for taking time from her schedule to share with us and to our Lion President for inviting her to our meeting.

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY - 2016

 

The Castries Lions and Leos in observance of International Literacy Day took time off from their cell phones and other electronic devices and spent some time reading.

The challenge was to read a book, take a picture and tell the storyline. This challenge was to highlight the importance of reading and to promote literacy in the midst of all the electronic distractions.

 Thanks to the Lions and Leos who took up the challenge – “Reading the Past Writing the Future”.

ANOTHER ROGER EUDOXIE BURSARY

September 06, 2016 the Castries Lions presented a Bursary as part of the Roger Eudoxie Scholarship to one of our very own. Leo Aquilah Smith was presented with the Bursary to assist her in furtherance of her education at the tertiary level. She was successful at the CXC examinations and will be pursuing Studies at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College “A” Level Division.

The President and Board of Directors join with members in wishing her success in her studies.

The President joins the Board of Directors and Members in Wishing our Lions with September birthdays - Lions Donna, Nathalie and Cynthia - the very best birthday ever. May you continue to grow in service to community.

CASTRIES LIONS JOIN IN RAISING AWARENESS OF SICKLE CELL DISEASE

Lions - September is observed as Sickle Cell Awareness Month. A number of our children and young adults suffer from this disease. Let us join in raising awareness of this disease.
