Growth in the Leo Club

At the second Zone Meeting of Zone 3b on January 25, 2014 two new members were inducted into the Leo Club of Castries. The young enthused Leos were excited about joining the world's largest and best service organization. Following this on Saturday February 1, another two persons were inducted.

These four persons had shown keen interest in the organization having gone through an extensive orientation programme and being given the opportunity to execute a number of projects. Some of the reason given for wanting to join the organization include - to be of service to community, to serve the less fortunate, to give of my skills and talents, to be part of a successful group, to socialize and meet new friends and most of all to have fun as young persons. We can assure you that these goals will be fulfilled as the Leo Movement allows young persons to achieve these through its motto - LEADERSHIP, EXPERIENCE,OPPORTUNITY.

SECOND ZONE MEETING - ZONE 3B

ZONE 3B MEET TO REPORT ON ACTIVITIES

The Lions and Leos of Zone 3B met on January 25, 2014 to report to the Zone Chairman, Lion Sharon Ephraim on the stewardship of the clubs during the last quarter - October - December 2013. The meeting received extensive reports from the five lions clubs and the one Leo club. They highlighted the works the clubs have been doing in - diabetes awareness, geriatrics and elderly care, prevention of blindness through education and healthcare, youth education and development. The meeting also received and update on the Kids-In-Sight programme - a joint activity with the Lions of West Virginia, the Lions and Leos of Zone 3B and the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association. This venture allows for children with vision problems to not only receive care but corrective surgery is also undertaken where needed. In addition workshops are held with the health care professionals at our various health facilities. The Zone recorded positive growth as at that meeting two Leos were inducted into the Leo Club of Castries.

A panel Discussion on Membership Retention highlighted the major challenges facing clubs regarding retention and growth. Some strategies for dealing with this were highlighted. In addition the Zone Chair reemphasized the need for fellowship within the Zone and among club members. Lions and Leos were invited to take the reaffirmation pledge to Lionism and service.

The Zone Chair reported on the work that Lions and Leos of Zone 3B have done following the Christmas trough with affected Saint Lucia on December 24, 2013. Through the assistance received from Lions International and Sub-District 60B the Lions and Leos were able to respond positively. Needs assessment are on-going and the Lions and Leos of Zone 3B remain every ready to respond.

Zone 3B on behalf of the people of Saint Lucia, expresses thanks to Lions International and the Lions and Leos of Sub-District 60B for their kind expressions, prayers, and generous contributions to the relief efforts.
