13-year-old Yu-Min Chen received the grand prize during Lions Day with the United Nations in Vienna, Austria, March 31, 2010

  Yu-Min said, “I hope all the people who see my drawing can get more commitment and agreement to have peace in their hearts … so we will have a peaceful world in the near future.”

Lions Provide Shelter to Haiti:
When diaster strikes, Lions pitch in with resources wherever we are needed in the world.  Lions Clubs International Foundation Chairperson Al Brandel  visited Haiti and toured  one of the three tent cities that Lions have established in Port-au-Prince.

 

His comment was just :

"It is a sea of blue tents with the Lions logo prominently displayed.   I am proud to be a LION" 

Lions play your part in helping to bring relief to our brothers, sisters and children of Haiti.

PEACE POSTER GRAND PRIZE WINNER - 2009-10

Lions International Peace Poster Contect 

Each year Lions Clubs around the world  sponsor the Peace Poster Contest which consists of an original theme incorporating peace. Participants use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil; and paint to express the theme.  The works created are unique and  express the young artists' life experiences and culture.  The theme for 2009-10  is "The Power of Peace"

This year thirteen year old Taiwanese Yu-Min  Chen is the grand winner of the Lions Intetrnational Peace Poster Contest 2009-10.  She will be recognized for her accomplishment at Lions Day with the United Nations in Vienna, Austria on Friday March 26, 2010.    About 350,000 children ages 11, 12 and 13 from seventy (70) countries around the world participated in this contest.   Her poster was chosen for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of this year's theme

Chen said :  "My colourful drawing shows that children hope to live in a peaceful world."

"If there is peace and unity in this world, life will be more beautiful, quiet, peaceful and full of love and affection "

ZONE CHAIRPERSON VISITS CLUB

The Lion Zone Chairperson for Zone 3B Lion Beverly Josie,  in keeping with the Club Audit  requirements visited the club on Thursday March 18.  During the visit the Zone Chairperson highlighted a number of challenges which she lamented was not peculiar to the club.  However the club came in for praises as it stood out as the one club who continues to report on time and persistently.  In addition she noted that despite the many challenges the club has been able to achieve a great deal. This in part was attributed to the fact that members exhibited not only team spirit but a camaraderie which was  necessary for the successful execution of projects.

The President of the Gros Islet Club and her members seized the opportunity and  visited the club on that night.  The  objective of the club visits is to foster  fellowship and to enable members to share experiences.

The Gros Islet Club President highlighted the need for the continued fellowship and execution of joint projects as we continue to serve the less fortunate in our communites.

Lion Keith  served as Tail-twister and infused a great deal of humour in the meeting

 

Members Socialized after the formal part of the meeting 

Lion Eugenia who is also a member of the Saint Lucia International Association with who the club has developed a partnership presented the club with the Lions Logo which will be placed at the front of the Club

 with the directory of the meeting  days and times.

After a hectic Kids Insight activity in February the members of the Club took time out to socialize on Sunday March 14.  The activity took the form of a beach picnic where members brought goodies to share. The activity was a welcoming one since we have been experiencing some extremely hot weather
