International Vice President - Wayne Madden visit Zone 3B

February marked a historic period for the lions of Zone 3B when we were graced with a visit by the Inerrnational Vice President Wayne Madden and a party of four. They were greeted on the Docks with a warm welcom by a team of Lions. Their visit included an audience with the Governor General, a visit to our historic Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and a luncheon where lions had an opporutnity to interact with the President and his team.

Kids-In-Sight Team Visit

February saw once again the team of doctors form Michigan visiting to continue their work with the Kids-in-sighjt project.

This project is ajoint project with the lions of Zone 3B and the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association.  During their visit the doctors perform corrective eye surgery on disadvantaged  children as well as conduct professional development workshops for health professionals.  This year marked the tenth year of this project and after the work the team met with the lions and members of the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Associaiton to review the project.  There were grave reviews for the project and commitment for its continuance.

Zone 3B host Region Meeeting

The Lions and leos  of Zone 3B hosted the Barbados, Grenada and St. Vincent at a successful Region Meeting. The members of the Lions club of Castries were commended for their attendance at that meeting Twelve members  attended the meeting . At that meeting the membership in the Zone  was incresed when four new lions were inducted into the fold. The induction was presided over by the Region Chairman.

The members of the organizaing committee are to be commended for the hosting of a successful Region meeting. The members of the Castries club are to be commended for the hosting of an enjoyable beach picnic on the Sunday following the Region Meeting.   Congratulations to the Lions and Leos of Zone 3B for hosting yet another successful meeting.

LIONS SPREAD CHRISTMAS CHEER

This year the members of the Lions club of Castries held its annual Christmas Party in the comunity of Bexon.  Bexon is one of the communities that were devasted by the passage of Hurrican Tomas on

October 30, 2010.     The children of that community had their homes and belongings washed way by  flood waters as well as strong gusty winds.   This year over two hundred childresn were treated.    The Lions are appreciative of the  support for this project given by our many corporate sponsors including, Dominoes pizza, Flavurite icecream, UWI Open Campus, Mrs and Mrs Barlette of New York, Mr Donovan Peter Henry of New York, as well as teh contributions of Lions and thier friends and families.     It is contributions like these that make the work of the Lions easier.

The Lions continuied to spread Christmas cheer when they served the residents of St Lucy's Home and the Sisters of Mercy Home at Hospital Road with Christmas lunch.  The homeless in environs of Castries were not forgotten as they too enjoyed lunch served by the Lions on December 26.
