CASTRIES LIONS OBSERVE CREOLE HERITAGE MONTH

In observance of Creole Heritage month (October) Castries Lions Social activity was a Creole evening.  The Lions, friends, family and guests brought many different Creole dishes to share – souse, lambi, salted sardine salad, saltfish, smoked herrings, farine and avocado balls, Creole bread, bakes and acras, a variety of local juices including golden apple and lime squash.
The evening stated with a formal part when former Leo Nathalie Remy was indicated into the Lions Club. This very impressive event was officiated by Lion Lesley-Ann Modeste.   A presentation was made to Lion Lydia Elliot our Lion of the Quarter.  This was followed by sharing of jokes and stories in patois as well as a patois puzzle.   The highlight of the evening was the modeling section when lions and guest modeled their various madras creations.  Lion Sharon and Mavis walked away with the prize for the most creative outfit. Visiting lioness Ann foster was awarded the prize for the modern creation of the madras into a simple sheath dress.
The night ended with the Lions and guest expressing birthday wishes to Lion Linda.

Thanks to the Social and Convention Chairperson Lion Cyrillia Dujon and her team for another entertaining evening.  To the Lions, friends and guests who attended your presence made the evening the success that it was.

We wish to welcome Lion Nathalie to the fold and look forward to her active participation as a Lion.
