MICOUD LIONS OBSERVE 21ST ANNIVERSARY

Castries Lions Congratulate the Board of Directors and members of the Micoud Lions Club on the occasion of their twenty-first Charter Anniversary.

The Board of Directors and members of the Castries Lions Club join me in congratulating you on the twenty-first anniversary of your Charter as a club.

To achieve this milestone in an environment which challenges one to constantly question the intention to serve is a feat to be recognized and commended. We are operating in an era when volunteerism is competing with the many advances in technology and other social advances that make it extremely difficult to attract persons to service. Despite this you have persevered and will continue to be of service to humanity.

When one Lions Club is formed in one community, the enormous possibilities of these Lions with their incredible drive, intelligence, ambition and, most importantly, benevolence, unite their talents to alleviate the burdens of the less fortunate. The result is that this lion club become a global force that contribute not only to developing their communities, and the country but to a global common good
Lions Club, play a vital role in every society. They help meet genuine needs of individuals and institutions. They have a legitimate voice in shaping policies and holding governments and their leaders accountable. For you to be successful, especially at the local level, it is also vital that you be able to work hand-in-hand with local government agencies and officials.

Community organizations such as the Lions Club are becoming more and more integral to the success of the neighborhoods and communities where they are rooted. A maxim of the Club reads “Whenever a Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller”, and communities get better. That is because we help where help is needed in our own communities and around the world with unmatched integrity and energy.
The Micoud Lions Club’s 21 years of action reflects an unremitting and unrelenting dedication to the cause of helping communities grow. This is precisely the sort of dedication that can be contagious. It is the sort of enthusiasm that can be responsible for bringing down barriers and effecting change.
As we look to 2017 to celebrating 100 years of lionism in the world also 50 years of lionism in Saint Lucia, I urge you to continue to be relentless in your pursuit for growth. Your continued focus on fostering the common good in the Saint Lucian society has proven that it is neither remuneration nor recognition that keeps the Lions Club purring. Rather, it is your commitment to the cause, the value of your devoted Service, and the fruits of your volunteer work which have been the cornerstones that have marked the Lions Club.

Do not ever doubt the impact you have made and can continue to make in your community.

I urge all of you to continue to give of your best and to keep the Lions Banner high in Micoud as we look forward to 100 years of lionism.

Beatrice Mac Donald
President
