District Governor outlines Goals for Sub District 60 B

The District Governor 60B, Lion Lloyd Barker, has challenged the lions and Leos of  sub district 60B to raise the standards of service.  He outlined his goals for this year as follows:
1   To build a stronger leo movement, focussing on establishing new Leo clubs in Zones where there are no
       clubs;
2   To increase membership in the District by at least two thousand
3    To develop strong leaderhsip within the District
4    To bring back fun in  lionism
5     To encourage the use of techoloogy; encouraging the older folks to become IT savy
6     Ensuring that thiungs are done correectly  by following established protocols.  This can be achieved by
       holding workshops in different.
The theme for this year is RAISING THE LEVELS OF SERVICE

Castries Lions install New Board of Directors

On June 25, 2011 the members of the Lions Clubs of Castries, Gros Islet and the Leo Club of Castries held a joint ceremony to install the members to serve on the various Boards for the fiscal year 2011/2012.

The outgoing President Lion Linda Joseph shared her thoughts on what was a successful year for the club. She encouraged members to recommit themselves to the goals of the club, and pledged her continued support. One theme that was common in the speeches of the incoming Presidents was that of membership growth. The President of the Leo club expressed the need for greater collaboration between the lions and the Leos and pledged to work on building this. The Incoming President of the Lions club of Gros Islet challenged lions and leos to each bring in one member this year to ensure not only growth but continuity of the organization. 

The President of the Castries declared her theme for this lion fiscal year as "Committed to Service with Excellence".  Her goals outlined for the year include

1    To continue working on the successful programme that the club has implemented. 

2    Concentration on Youth and the elderly the two most vulnerable groups in our society

3   Revitalize membersjip and to attract new quality members

4   To promote comaradere among club members

5   Focus on the Leo club and building a stronger bond

6   Re-introduce club visitation

She urged members to recommit themselves to the Code of ethics of the organization and to remain focussed on District Governor theme which is Raising the Levels of Service

District 60B donate to Pre -Schools

On October 30 2010 Saint Lucia experienced the worse hurricane for decades.   The Lions and Leos of District 60B made a monetary contribution to be used in the restoration of educational supplies to needy schools.   A needs assessment was carried out with the Ministry of Education and it was felt that the sector  to benefit from this donation would be the pre-school sector.  The items were sourced by the Lions of Zone 3B and on June 14m, 2011,  a presentation was made to the Pre-School Education Officer.    In attendance were educators, children from some of the pre schools and the members of the Lions and Leo clubs of Zone 3B.     The Pre-school Education Officer expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the pre-schoolers.

                                      

The lions and leos of Zone 3B take this opportunity to say thank you to the Lions and Leos of District 60B for their assistance in rebuilding the education sector.

31st MULTIPLE DISTRICT CONVENTION - BARBADOS

The Lions of Multiple District 60 converged on the island of Barbados for their annual Multiple District Convention from May 18 - 22, 2011.  The Lions Club of Bridgetown celebrated fifty years of their charter and by extension fifty years of lionism in Barbados. 

The International President lion Sid L.Scruggs III, in his Message had this to say:

"This event offers you a unique opportunity to share with others what your club and District are doing to make your community and the world a better place.  Speak with other lions and seek out new ideas to help your Club and District improve and expand the service you are already providing in your area.  Take this opportunity to celebrate all that Lions have accomplished in your multiple district through compassion and camaraderie; but also realize, there is still much that needs to be done.

As Lions you serve as a "Beacon of Hope" for those in  need. Continue to let your light shine on those who can benefit from the care of a Lion.  The future of the association depends upon the dedication and leadership of every member. By working with your Club, District and Multiple Disttict, we can live Helen Keller's words, "Together each accomplishes more."

Our Distrcit Governor 60B, Lion June Mc Catty  in her message said  - Re-energized: To fulfill Our Motto.  This motto has truly guided the emotions, activities and interactions of all lions and Leos of District 60B.   .......   It certainly has been a fantastic year for District 60B and what a tremendous wayto begin to bring it to a close by us, Lions, Leos and Guests meeting in the paradies island of Barbados ........ Let us make it one that we will never forget by getting involved, enjoying ourselves, sharing and learning from each other.
Eleven Members of the  Lions club of Castries attended the Convention.   In addition to the reports and workshops the highlight of the Convention was the parade of countries which presented the visiting lions clubs to the people of Bridgetown,

Diabetes Awareness award

CONGRATULATIONS to the members of the Lions Club of Castries  for their continued hard work and dedication.

Distrtict 63 provide Hurricane Relief to Schools

The District Governor 63 and a Team of French lions visited Saint Lucia to make a contribution of school  items to lions for distribution to affected schools.   In addition to the school supplies two laptops were also donated to the Fond St. Jacques Primary School and the Cornith Secondary School.  The total value of the donation  was  approximately EC$41,600.
